The First Ever gDayX Cagayan de Oro

GBG Cagayan de Oro held its first ever gDayX in the city last November 16, 2013 at the N Hotel. It was the biggest Google event for Northern Mindanao so far. It was also our biggest event yet.

Judging by the feedback from our delegates around Northern Mindanao, the event was without a doubt a success. Everyone had so much fun and the atmosphere was filled with so much new stuff to learn.

gDayX is an event format patterned after Google Days or gDays, and is a collaboration of different Google communities in the city. It is intended as a unifying event for various business people, professionals, and technology enthusiasts. Different topics about technology and business are discussed, without going into much technicality or details.

Other exciting stuff

1. ZOA Band

Who could forget the amazing band that played during the registrations and lunch time? The smooth jazz genre they play made the atmosphere light, warm and comfortable to all the guests.

You can catch them play at Centrio Mall every Friday night.

2. Photo booth

There was unlimited photo booth the whole day brought to you by Shutterbug Photography. Delegates had so much fun doing wacky poses while holding some Google icons and stuff.

For your party photobooth needs, check them out. They're amazing.

3. Cupcakes

We had some really lovely and delicious cupcakes designed with logos of Google products. Big thanks to Amber's Homebaked Goodies for the cupcakes and Red Thimble for the cupcake toppers. You can contact Amber's Homebaked Goodies through this number: 09266787782. Check out Red Thimble's Facebook page here.

4. Giveaways

Thanks to our amazing sponsors, we were able to give away a lot of amazing stuff! In fact, everyone got home with at least one prize. Some lucky delegates went away with two.

Here are the prizes we gave away.

12 VJANDEP Pastel boxes
50 Google Chrome polymer clay keychains from Goodie Box Crafts
20 gift certificates of Chingkeetea's milk tea blends
20 cinema tickets from Ayala Centrio
25 tote bags from GMA
20 AdWords certificate from Google
10 JMKTech hosting packages
3 Jinbei Auto Service Gift Certificates
... and moar swags from Google!

And most importantly, we would like to give a big shout-out to GMA Cagayan de Oro, our official media partner, who have been very supportive of us from the start. Likewise, uur deepest appreciation for Smart #LiveMore, Ideaspace, and Voyager, for providing major support as an event partner, as well as high-speed internet access during the event.

All-day fun

Other than that, people were just having fun all day while learning a lot of great stuff. It was a memorable event and we are already excited to hold the next one. Check out all the photos from the event on our Google+ Event Page.

It is great to see Cagayan de Oro and Northern Mindanao slowly become aware of the benefits of Google products to the business community. That is what we are really after anyway.
